2GO announces Rob Palmer for Breakfast
2GO Breakfast host Mandy Coolen will be joined by Rob Palmer as a permanent fixture on the show.
Known for his time on Better Homes and Gardens, Rob is one of Australia’s favourite TV handymen, having also won Season 10 of Dancing With The Stars.
Rob’s talent was recognised by SCA’s Hubble talent development program, and he’s spent time as an announcer on Triple M Aussie’s ‘The Smoko’ show.
“I’ve always loved radio and I’m so excited that I am busting my chops to be on the Central Coast as an apprentice to Mandy,” he said.
“I’ve watched Rob’s talent and skills from afar, and I know that the Central Coast listeners will love waking up to his ability to tell a good pub yarn every morning with Mandy,” said SCA’s NSW group content director Peter Yiamarelos.
Rob replaces Akmal Saleh, who spent just one year at 2GO.
Mandy has been hosting the slot alone since the start of the year after first-choice replacement Shad Wicker lost his shot at the gig after an ill-advised stunt involving Prime Minister Scott Morrison before he departed Hit Cairns for the NSW Central Coast.
Wicker’s employ was terminated by SCA after he posted a photo posing with the PM before he departed his gig at Hit Cairns, where he could be seen holding a mug to spell the word c**t on it.
2GO’s new look Breakfast with Mandy & Rob Palmer begins from April 1.
