92.9 Triple M has raised a whopping $36,255 amount for Telethon by wheeling a bin through Perth

The local radio station hit the city streets late last week for a 12 hour live broadcast during its ‘Wheelie Big Day for Telethon.’

Xavier Ellis, Katie Lamb and other announcers from the station kicked off at 5.30am, walking an orange wheelie bin from Fremantle to Forrest Place, taking donations for the WA fundraiser.

In its inaugural year in 2023, 92.9 Triple M raised $23,000. This year the station already had $25,000 in donations before the official walk had even begun, thanks to local Perth businesses who wanted to pledge their support early.

Channel 7 celebrities including SAS Australia’s Ant Middleton, Sunrise hosts Nat Barr and Matt Shirvington and Gold Logie winner Larry Emdur added their star power to the cause, joining the walk to encourage donations.

One of the 2024 Little Telethon Stars, Nate, enjoyed meeting Eagles great Ben Cousins and his Dancing with the Stars dance partner Siobhan Power, who also flew over for the star-studded fundraiser.

Cousins said “I’ve grown up with Telethon and as a West Australian, I’m so proud of the way the WA the public get behind it. It’s a real feel-good weekend and I’m proud to be an Aussie!”

In a throwback to The Price is Right days, Emdur played a game of ‘Higher or Lower’ to unveil the total amount of money raised.
