Maddy Rowe has achieved her long held dream of hosting a night-time radio show, with The Maddy Rowe Show having launched nationally this week on the Nova Network.

Maddy takes over the 8pm timeslot following the departure of Kent ‘Smallzy’ Small and Smallzy’s Surgery after 13 years.

Sharing the news on Instagram, Maddy said “When I first got into radio in 2017 I always dreamt of doing a nights radio show.”

“I’d heard Ash London (the GOAT) do it in a way I’d never heard before and always thought that one day, I’d do it too.”

“It’s always been about the music for me – the emotion of it, the way it can impact culture, the way it can give you goosebumps and make you laugh and cry and move and how it can soundtrack life’s biggest moments.”

Maddy – who’s been with Nova for close to four years and has hosted the Maddy Rowe Aus Music Show for the past two – says her new night time show will continue to be a celebration of music.

“It’s been my greatest honour championing Australian music for the last 2 and a bit years and I’ll continue to fly that flag now from 8pm every night.”

The content is all voice-tracked, no genuine live energy, and there’s zero caller interaction which is the backbone of what makes radio engaging. Then it gets flogged out again as “The Maddy Rowe Aus Music Show” from 10pm to midnight like it’s fresh.

If that slot is supposed to showcase talent and connect with listeners, give someone else the 10pm–12am shift who can actually do it live, interact with the audience, and build something authentic. Right now, it just feels lazy and recycled.

All Nova shows should be syndicated live nationally. Why can’t these shows be live into Adelaide and Perth?

Mitch will be disappointed no doubt. However a good decision Nova. You need something different and not a copycat of the prior show.
