Talking all things footy: 2 CBAA award nominations for Kal
It’s just over a year now since Radio Today sat down to chat with Kal Krzyzanoswki about his passion for radio and long-held dream to one day work in the industry.
He’s now a step closer to achieving that goal, having been named a finalist in two categories for next month’s Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) Awards.
Not only has Kal been nominated for Outstanding Youth Contribution for his work with Vision Australia Radio, the sport show he’s part of –Reading The Play – All Things Footy – is up for Best Sports Program.
Airing all year-round, the program covers AFL and AFLW as well as the newer, inclusive formats such as AFL Wheelchair, AFL Blind and AFL Deaf.
“I was very happy to hear that we got nominated, especially considering we’re a small, tight-knit group that gets together on a Monday afternoon to put together a pre-recorded 30-minute radio show in 45 minutes,” says Kal.
“This nomination is such great recognition from our peers and higher-ups from CBAA who are listening to our show and enjoying it.”
It’s a big step forward for Kal, whose own podcast It’s In Our Name was a finalist in the Best Interview category of the 2024 Radio Today Podcast Awards.
The CBAA Awards Gala will be held in Hobart on Saturday, October 25. Find the entire list of finalists here.
