What happened to Richard King? He is great & you put on Cris Smith really? What’s going on over there?

I think Overnight presenter Cheralyn Darcey might be the only female of note heard on 2SM (well, 2HD since that show emulates from Newcastle) and the wider Super Radio Network.

Not great as we approach the halfway mark of the 2020s, although 2GB don’t have much more in the way of female talent on-air at last check…

Sorry won’t be listening as it’s not the same . It’s now like Sky and of course that’s where Chris Smith was sacked from. I’ve listened from 30 years through 2HD. Not anymore. The presenters are 90% right wing. And 95% of the callers are also.

There is a female her name is “Talk Overnight”. Buried in their website and on air.

Really, you’re that desperate for a host you pick Chris Smith. How many times can someone be given an olive branch to be thrust back into your face. Find new talent for God sake and spare us the pain.

Also, has anyone else noticed how the new 2SM and Super Radio Network websites have been done by ACE Radio (or its digital division)? Makes you wonder if at some time down the track, a merger between these two networks could take place.

Why don’t you have female Radio announcers and why not do Country, it’s cool there is a great Country announcer on Connect FM her name is Leonie the program is called Connecting Country Friday 1-4pm tune in she has lots of listeners

You lost me when you cancelled ” HiTide” on the weekends.

My radio has an on/off switch, which I use constantly, willing to hear and give them a chance, not knowing either will be interesting to hear them.Hopefully I will have a more entertaining 2025.

Chris Smith is very good choice listened to him from time to time. Listen with him listen to him at 2gb where he worked for a period of time.

As much as I like Matt ? It’s so annoying how many times he says Umm on his program. He said Umm 17 times in 3mins with each sentence the other morning when trying to listen to him & his callers when half asleep so I had to change the station.. I have never heard any other announcer say ‘umm’ so many times on their program…

I’m guessing you won’t have the guts to publish this, but why no mention of his past? This guy has had too many chances and doesn’t deserve another go.
He won’t last anyway.

And btw is 2SM going to participate in the ratings or will they remain the pimple on the backside of Sydney radio?
Also will there newsroom be upgraded or will it be business as usual with kids thrown on air without proper training, stuffing up bulletins and not able to pronounce names and locations?

@Tim Salmon: Whether or not 2SM is reinstated in Sydney’s GfK surveys, I personally doubt they’ll have a significant increase in listenership across the day until consideration is given towards replacing the “no name” 2HD-based talent in non-Brekky/Mornings/Drive timeslots with people who’ve got a bit more name recognition around here. And maybe pull “Sportsday” from the 2SM lineup since that program can also be heard in Sydney on SEN 1170.

Upgrading the playout system 2SM use is also a must, I think. The “analogue sounding” audio (despite mostly being in stereo on DAB+) is one thing, but it’s extremely unprofessional how sometimes you’ll hear 2SM ad breaks not quite complete before going into the news or Return to Program with IDs and the News theme sometimes played on top of each other, etc.

For all their faults, at least major playout errors are fairly rare on 2GB and other Sydney commercial stations.

Maybe Richard King should be docked 2 weeks at least of his salary for the pains he put on 2hd listeners over the xmas break ,and he did the same last year, we are loyal listeners to 2hd but he had to have his adds blaring out on every other presenters show ,{how dare you}. I have complained for 3 years now hopefully he has fallen on his sword.

Once and for all get rid of that EGOTIST Richard king ,loves himself sick.

Well just when you thought Australian radio comedy was gone like the dinosaurs they bring one back. Chris is the master of SPOL and makes Lawsie look an amateur at confecting outrage. My favourite actor so far is that Stephanie. What a great character and I know what she is talking about when someone is wanting to make you vomit. Keep up the great work Chris as ‘confident stupidity’ syndrome is a great skill.

I listened to your commentary yesterday and interview with John Larter on the Covid issue. You are the only one in the media who dares talk about the issue, which I can tell you is MASSIVE. Female announcers don’t generally have much success with poor ratings

Chris Smith runs the most one sided, bigoted, whinging talkback programme I have ever heard. I thus never listen to him or 2SM again. Listening to him and his elderly bigoted callers makes me lose faith in humanity. The programme is the most amateurish, one sided programme I have ever heard. It’s full of fake angst/whinging from Smith in order to encourage and control his bigoted audience. YUK!

I’ve written it to 2 SM twice with no reply. I have Internet radio that’s just gone blank also now listening on TuneIn not working either what’s going on?

G’day old mate, just a question. The Medicare levy is 2%. What is wrong with us to agree with a 1 or 2 % increase to prevent the government to distribute our Billions, with political discussions. I’d prefer a small increase in the levy for a better health system. All the best. Keith

I’ve been listening for a couple of weeks now and have switched from 2GB for the 9am to 12 morning show.
Love the logical themes and commonsense. We don’t need woke nonsense or the imaginings that there is more than two sexes. Nor do we need the hysteria of the climate alarmists that much of the media either spread or tolerate thereby giving the theory unjustified credibility.

Tuned into 2SM Saturday afternoon and some woman presenter on – sorry forgot her name – but seriously can she be replaced – i tuned back to 2GB sports much better programme even though i don’t like footie.

Friday 6 Feb 2026 talk back about Road and Bridge engineering – why the roads are not being constructed according to national and world wide standards –

The NSW Department of Main Roads (DMR) made up of Civil, Bridge, Mechanical and Research, Engineers with supporting specialist Surveyors and Scientists was traded off by ill-informed politicians to the overly, overly expensive Private Enterprise where each segment strives greedily for profit – the on the job glaring and hugely over the top absolute waste in Traffic Facilities and Traffic Control is but one example where contracts let and budgets appear endless for the meagre return achieved.

The DMR admirably and with safety controlled both quality and cost of State and Local (LG) Road building and maintenance with the LG segment being through face to face interaction with each and every NSW council. Road and bridge engineering expertise was formally shared throughout the Nation as was the avoidance of duplicating work effort across the State.

Now every separate contract let by the State needs to not only to get the work done in closed time constraints but furthermore, cut corners to maximise profits.

Any Auditor who knows the business would find corruption is very much alive and well probably inadvertently fostered by Clerks not knowing the profession and unable to look for the signs about what is really happening in the civil engineering contract world – be assured the professional public servants of NSW cannot and will not get value for money in the road and bridge building – it is a dedicated engineering profession and the specialists Statutory Authority should be returned to proper spending to return value for money to the taxpayers not only for the State but also for the Commonwealth
