Stav puts down the mic and picks up the gloves

This Saturday, B105 breakfast funny man Stav Davidson will get in the ring and fight to raise money for the Small Steps 4 Hannah domestic violence charity.

Stav is fighting a much younger and much fitter opponent for his first-ever boxing fight, taking place in a real boxing ring at Brisbane Showgrounds.

Stav’s colleagues from the Stav, Abby and Matt breakfast show are hedging their bets against him and the odds on Sportsbet are also not in his favour, but that isn’t stopping him from putting it all on the line against a much heavier opponent for a good cause.

The Small Steps for Hannah charity was founded by the Clarke family after their daughter and her children were murdered in a 2020 domestic violence incident.

The Clarkes are very close to Stav’s breakfast co-host Abby Coleman, and when she asked Stav to fight for this cause, he was in. That was ten weeks ago. Stav’s had ten weeks to learn to box, get fit, and arrive fight-ready.

When Stav spoke with his 24-year-old opponent Will on air, the pleasantries were followed by prophecies.

The crew asked Will if he thought he would win, to which he replied, “Yes. Second round.”

Saturday evening’s contest will be one of a few fights hosted by Fight for a Cause held that night at the Royal International Convention Centre, RNA Showgrounds.

The evening is a classic Las Vegas Fight Night – men will don tuxedos and women will wear formal dresses.

Plus, in a nod to Stav’s Scottish heritage, he will be walked out by the Queensland Police Pipes & Drums mini-band and four Scottish Dancers.

Help the cause by visiting Small Steps 4 Hannah.
