Star 106.3’s Shaun O’Neill farewells Townsville in the most Townsville way

Reporter

After 18 months as the Workday Announcer and Assistant Content Director with ARN Townsville, Star 106.3’s Shaun O’Neill has demonstrated one last time that local wins, with a parody of Simon and Garfunkel’s ‘The Sound Of Silence’ … albeit with a little more Townsville noise.

Highlighting his time spent in Townsville with iconic locations, newsworthy stories and an unusual amount of performances by Australian artist Tones and I, the video is not without a couple of lighthearted jabs and a little political satire on issues that had Townsvillians talking over the past year and a half.

The video has resonated with the people of Townsville, becoming the most shared piece of content on the Star 106.3 Facebook Page, with over 65K views and 550 shares at the time of writing this article.

But perhaps the best validation comes from the multiple shares to a local community Facebook page, where the post did not receive a single negative comment – a feat not often seen on those pages.

Shaun is moving back to Melbourne to spend time with family while searching for the next opportunity to connect with a local audience.
