Skyfire to light up Canberra again in 2026
The skies above Canberra’s Lake Burley Griffin will light up again in 2026, with free event Skyfire returning next year on Saturday, March 14, with the support of Hit 104.7 and Mix 106.3.
Skyfire has been a beloved feature of the Canberra calendar since 1989, when FM104.7 (Now Hit 104.7) first delivered the event.
Since then, Skyfire has turned into a day-long celebration, with markets, food trucks, entertainment hubs, live radio broadcasts and big screens for people to watch all the action around the lake unfold.
In the skies will be over 40,000 pyrotechnic effects, 2,500 shells and 25,000 shooting comets to entertain and expected audience of over 120,000, all to a synchronised soundtrack, to be broadcast on both Mix 106.3 and Hit 104.7.
In 2025, Skyfire delivered a huge economic boost for the local region, including 2.2 million dollars generated by interstate and international visitors.
Further details on Skyfire 2026 will be available on the Hit 104.7 and Mix 106.3 websites from early 2026.
