River change: New regional ABC Radio role for Ben Murphy

Comedian Ben Murphy has made quite the ‘river change,’ moving to Victoria’s north west to take up a new role as ABC Radio’s new Breakfast host in Mildura.

Ben has made a name for himself internationally over two decades as a comedy magician and illusionist. Among his magical feats – Ben has performed more escapes than anyone from the Houdini water torture tank!

Now, Ben says he’s excited to bring a new energy and flavour to the regional radio format.

Ben has enjoyed a long and varied career in entertainment, having hosted and produced his own award-winning TV chat show.

Some of his social media videos have gone viral online with millions of views.

Through his work on TV, plus JOY and Vision Australia radio programs, Ben has chatted to high profile guests including English actress Miriam Margolyes, Gretel Killeen, Tim Ferguson, Isaiah Firebrace and Human Nature.

In the first week of his new Mildura role, he’s already had guests on-air including Peking Duk, Pete Murray and Conrad Sewell, as well as members of the Sydney Dance Company.

Ben says he’s excited about what he can bring to listeners in the Mallee region, keeping the long-term audience happy whilst also hopefully attracting new listeners to the ABC.
