Mix 102.3’s Ali Clarke shares emotional journey to discover her lost father’s grave

Mix 102.3 Breakfast host, Ali Clarke, shared details on-air this morning about her emotional journey to visit the grave of her long-lost father.

Accompanied by her mother and the show’s producer Kate, Ali made the journey up to Queensland to visit the newly discovered grave in Goodna Cemetery near Brisbane.

Over the past two weeks, listeners of the show have been following Ali’s journey as the show collaborated with a prominent private investigator to gather more information about her birth father.

During their visit to the cemetery, Ali and her mother were confronted with the fact that her father’s grave was unmarked.

Despite not knowing her father, Ali said the discovery made her sad.

“I didn’t care about it a week ago, so I’m not sure why I care now,” Ali said.

“When you turn up to a cemetery where everything else is, you know, people have left things and there’s beautifully cared for plots, and then there’s just a piece of grass for him. It’s easy just to jump to the fact that no one cared.”

“Maybe I should have cared sooner.”

The private investigator revealed that Ali’s birth father had died suddenly of a brain aneurysm at the age of 39.

“I think I worry now that there wasn’t anyone there to look after him,” Ali said.

“I just hope he was happy.”
