Listener loyalty triumphs for Life FM’s Aiden Grant

Reporter

It’s been a record breaking week on Life FM Adelaide‘s Drive show Aiden In The Arvo.

As part of the weekly segment Payphone Pick Up, host Aiden Grant calls a nominated payphone after the 5pm news to see who will answer.

Each week he calls a different Adelaide suburb’s payphone, live on air.

Over the last year, the segment has become an audience favourite.

And over 60% of the time, a loyal listener manages to get to the phone with only five minutes’ notice, by the time the news is finished.

This week’s edition was something special, with the largest ever number of listeners answering the call.

“It’s one thing to get listeners to call up for a phone topic but it’s next level dedication for listeners to drive to a random location and wait for a payphone to call,” says Aiden.

“I’m always hoping that at least one person answers. I didn’t expect four people to be waiting in line to answer the payphone. It blows me away how loyal my listeners are!”

This is proof that localisum always wins and doesn’t have to be boring! Great segment idea.

So he rings a pay phone then answers it himself? He is a his own listener.
