How Triple M Bundy’s Jacob & El became Phil Jamieson’s support act
It’s not unusual for Breakfast radio shows to form fake bands for a laugh.
But Triple M Bundaberg’s Jacob & El (aka Jacob Nicholls and Elerrina McPherson) got more than they bargained for when they created their own band called 2 Non Blondes.
It all started out as a gag. The brekky duo had initially just planned to belt out one tune, to open Bundy’s Battle of the Bands.

But their memorable performance of Teenage Dirtbag ended up landing them a gig – and not just any old gig: they got to open for Grinspoon frontman Phil Jamieson.
Phil is currently on his 44-show PJ AIR Tour and is running completely solo, with no support acts anywhere else in the country.

When Jacob & El interviewed Phil on-air about his tour, they jokingly plugged their band.
Phil liked their vibe so much, he invited them to be the official opening act to kick off his tour.
Last Saturday night, 2 Non Blondes officially opened for Phil at the Grand Hotel in Childers.
And, far from hiding out in the green room, Phil was front and centre in the crowd, dancing and cheering the pair on.
