Gold 104.3’s Footy Wall of Fame unveiled in iconic Melbourne street

Melburnians love their footy, so to kick start the AFL season, The Christian O’Connell Show took to the city to literally paint it ‘GOLD,’ with the Footy Wall of Fame officially being unveiled this morning by Lord Mayor Sally Capp.

Located in Lygon Street, Brunswick, the hand-painted wall has been brought to life in partnership with Monarch, compiled from listener nominations.

The wall features everything that makes footy great, whether it’s the iconic meat pie with sauce, a local club legend or a childhood hero who inspired someone’s love for the game.

Christian O’Connell says “Rather than a Hall of Fame where everyone knows the big familiar names that have been well heralded for a long time, we wanted to know about unknown, unsung stars who deserved their time in the limelight.”

Over the last two weeks, eight heroes of the game have been hand-selected by Christian and co-hosts Jack Post and Patrina Jones and are now immortalised for local footy fans big and small to enjoy.

The Christian O’Connell Show’s Footy Wall of Fame is located at 74 Lygon St, Brunswick East and will be up until Sunday 31 March.
