From the airwaves to local government: Adam Pacan elected City of Perth councillor
Another familiar Australian radio voice has made the transition from the airwaves to local government.
Adam Pacan – who previously hosted Breakfast on 6PR alongside former Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas – has been elected as a councillor for the City of Perth.
Pacan has a long radio history, having also worked at Sydney’s KIIS 1065 and as a Program Director at SCA.
He joins a growing list of Australian radio professionals making a tangible impact in politics and local governance.
Other radio names who’ve moved into the public service in recent years include:
Basil Zempilas – Former 6PR, Triple M Perth, and 92.9 Perth announcer who served as Lord Mayor of Perth and is currently a member for Churchlands, WA.
Brady Ellis – Former Star 106.3 Townsville Breakfast host; now a Councillor for Division 10, Townsville City Council in Queensland.
Glenn Wilson – Former Triple M Goldfields announcer; currently Mayor of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, WA.
Kylie King – Former 2AY Albury announcer who served as Mayor of Albury City Council, NSW.
Pablo Miller – Former 102.5 Triple M Karratha Breakfast host; previously a Councillor for the City of Karratha, WA.
Many of these individuals have leveraged their local profile and public-facing experience to effectively serve their communities.
Had the pleasure of working with Adam. He’s a natural leader, dedicated, and truly inspires those around him. Wishing him all the best with the City of Perth!
