Celebrating industry talent: Why we support the Radio Today 30 Under 30 Awards

Reporter

We’ve heard from previous winners how the Radio Today 30 Under 30 Awards have super-charged their careers.

It’s a big reason why the organisations supporting these awards are passionate about encouraging the next generation of industry talent.

The Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS) prides itself on supporting up-and-coming talent, so getting behind the Radio Today 30 Under 30 Awards was a no-brainer.

AFTRS Program Convenor Natalie Pozdeev tells Radio Today “AFTRS is thrilled to support the 30 under 30 again this year!”

“As AFTRS is all about nurturing and discovering new audio storytelling talent, we’re excited to hear all about this year’s finalists.”

“These awards highlight the outstanding young talent who have already achieved a lot in their (comparatively) short careers.”

“The future of the radio industry is in good hands.”

ACE Radio CEO Mark Taylor agrees it’s imperative we support and encourage the next generation of industry talent.

After the challenges of living through a pandemic, Taylor says now, more than ever, it’s important to keep people under 30 engaged and motivated.

“Ultimately, it is the younger generation of staff who will see us through this time and into the future, so we need to keep their passion and love for the industry alive.”

“This means providing opportunities wherever possible to showcase and celebrate their talent. This is why we are proud to be involved in the 30 Under 30 initiative as it allows us to spotlight the future of our industry and why radio continues to be an integral part of the media landscape.”

Nine Radio Managing Director Tom Malone says radio is a fabulous training ground for a career in media.

“I loved my time as a cadet at 2UE and learnt so much, very quickly. As a business we are eager to both support and celebrate the next generation or radio talent – on air and off air – through this important initiative.”

“Nine Radio is proud to be supporting Radio Today’s 30 Under 30 Awards.”
