92.9FM Tamworth celebrates 30 years 

Tamworth’s 92.9FM is celebrating 30 years of broadcasting today. 

The station launched onto the airwaves for the first time on May 1st 1993 and has serviced Tamworth, the Liverpool Plains and the North West regions since.

Providing the community with local news, sports and the widest variety of music in the region, 92.9FM has become part of the area’s tapestry. 

Throughout its time, the station has supported numerous local charities and events, forging several community partnerships that continue today. 

To celebrate the occasion, 92.9FM is playing music from 1993 all day, a time when Nirvana was thriving, The Cranberries released their song Linger and Counting Crows brought us the iconic Mr Jones. 

Further celebrations will take place on May 6th when 92.9FM host a listener party at Wests Diggers that will be made up of VIPs and lucky listeners.

In the release, 92.9FM said, “The team at 92.9fm are very proud of the station’s achievements and how far we have grown over the years to become Tamworth’s number one commercial radio station.”
