2022 Mardi Gras with triple j
This Saturday 5 March triple j is proudly broadcasting the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.
It’s the LGBTQIA+ community’s night of nights, and triple j will be bringing it to you live from the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Tune in from 7pm – 10pm via your radio, the triple j app or the triple j website.
Hosted by triple j’s Tyrone Pynor and Abby Butler, the broadcast will cover the floats, the fanfare and all the fun.
Plus, triple j’s Latifa Tee will be jumping on the decks to bring you a killer playlist of party tunes, queer anthems, and hot tracks by up-and-coming artists. And there will be a bunch of LGBTQIA+ musicians and icons popping by to wish you a happy Mardi Gras.
All this week triple j be celebrating Mardi Gras season across triple j, Double J and triple j Unearthed.
On triple j, you can expect a week of queer playlists, interviews, mixes and live music.
Sydney-based electronic pop artist Nick Ward will be in the Like A Version studio on Friday; The Hook Up will be hearing from people who came out during the pandemic; Cub Sport will be this week’s Live at the Wireless, and lots more.
triple j Unearthed will be curating a Pride playlist featuring the best new Australian songs from emerging artists within the LGTBQIA+ community.
Running for an hour, you’ll be able to hear it on demand via the triple j app, website or on air on both triple j and triple j Unearthed.
Double J is celebrating Mardi Gras with an incredible live set from the archive: The Village People, recorded at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney, Australia on May 25, 1980.
