Townsville brekky host accidentally wins the right to advertise on rival radio station

There’s a very real possibility that Townsville radio listeners might soon be hearing one Breakfast show advertising itself during another station’s commercial breaks.

It comes after ARN regional station Star 106.3 Breakfast co-host Tom ‘Donny’ Watkin accidentally secured a month-long advertising package on a rival network (erm, that would be SCA).

Watkin placed a bid during a Ronald McDonald House Charities fundraising auction.

Watkin and his Breakfast co-host Adam Davison are longtime supporters of the charity.

Watkin had assumed that someone else would outbid him … but nobody did.

The bid cost Watkin $1500. But he says if he’s going to blow a month’s rent, at least it’s for a great cause.

Now, Watkin and Davison now plan to use the exclusive prize to their advantage.

“As for what goes to air, let’s just say we are writing some very spicy copy right now and sending it straight to their sales department,” Watkin said.

“Your move, guys.”
