Adelaide Breakfast radio rivals join forces in World Cup truce

What started out as a playful naming dispute has ended in an unlikely collaboration between two Adelaide Breakfast radio shows.

Last week, KIIS 1023’s Ben & Liam jokingly launched a ‘cease and desist’ campaign against Life FM Breakfast duo Bec & Liam, questioning whether there was room in Adelaide for two shows with such similar names.

After bringing Bec on air last Friday to explain why Bec & Liam deserved to keep the name, Ben & Liam helpfully suggested a handful of alternative options.

With neither side willing to budge, the Breakfast rivals instead reached a truce, with Bec & Liam agreeing to host the first half hour of KIIS Breakfast while Ben & Liam watched the FIFA World Cup Final.

Listeners were informed of the arrangement via a pre-recorded message from Ben & Liam at 6 o’clock this morning before Bec & Liam stepped in to host the first half hour of the show – proving Adelaide Breakfast radio can be surprisingly collaborative when it counts.

What began as a light-hearted rivalry ultimately became a celebration of Adelaide radio, with two competing Breakfast shows coming together to create a unique moment for listeners.

The only problem? Bec & Liam may have done such a good job that Ben & Liam could find themselves with more competition than they bargained for.
