Shining the light on Newcastle’s thriving local music scene

Last month, Newcastle Live welcomed The Newcastle Live n’ Local Music Show to the family, along with the Newcastle Live Podcast.

Hosted by local music evangelist Bonnie Anne, the show celebrates Newcastle’s thriving local music scene, and the artists involved every Monday night from 6 pm.

Partnering with Lizotte’s, one of the city’s most loved live music venues, the show will also feature interviews with the acts hitting the stage at their weekly Live n’ Local showcase.

“It’s so important to me to be able to highlight the incredible amount of local talent that we have right now in Newcastle and the Hunter,” host and producer Bonnie Anne said.

Following the success of the sold-out West Best Bloc Fest, the show hopes to capture the enthusiasm for local acts and the live music scene in Newcastle.

“We always talk about the ’80s and the ’90s and the incredible music scene we had here in Newcastle, but right now, under our noses, we have all of these incredible musicians and bands that are kicking butt.

“So each week there will be a curated local playlist featuring exclusive live tracks, plenty of interviews, local music news and the best gigs.”

Since launching, the show has welcomed acts like Turpentine Babycino, Cooks & Bakers, Piper Butcher, and Abbi Yeo to the microphone alongside artists like country musician Katie Jayne and Newcastle rock royalty Mark Tinson.

The Newcastle Live n’ Local Music Show airs on Monday nights from 6 pm.
