Goodbye Hylo. Last day on air for Geelong radio favourite
There were shenanigans aplenty as Mark Hyland yesterday officially wrapped up his last day on air at Geelong’s bay 93.9 FM.
The theme for the morning was ‘Wear a band t-shirt in honour of Hylo,’ and colleagues including Breakfast co-host Lisa ‘Milly’ Millard got right into the spirit of the occasion.
After 28 years with Geelong Broadcasters, Hyland announced last month that he was hanging up the headphones.
He is taking break from the early alarm clocks to focus on his surfing technique and spend time with his family and thanked the bay 93.9 listeners who’ve been a huge part of his life for the last three decades.
Ahead of his final show, Hyland sat down for a chat with Tom King to discuss his decision to call time, career highlights and what the future holds.
Listen to the conversation here.
A top bloke. So kind. Great boss. Super-talented storyteller and absolutely hilarious without meaning to be…which actually makes him even more hilarious Mark and Mil as a team were never afraid to be real and even vulnerable on air at times, which has really forged a connection with their audience. The bay 93.9 listeners (and all of us lucky to work with them) love Mark & Mil. Such a great team on air and the best workmates ever. Enjoy the sleep ins and surfing Mark
Congratulations Mark!
Agree with Craig – a top bloke, and a wonderful boss and mentor.
Enjoy the surf!
What a guy! A brilliant broadcaster, always has a story to share and goes for a great footy team.
Will miss you on the airwaves, Mark.
I’ve been in email contact with Nova 100 via the Nova FM website and rising management to sign Mark To Nova 100 to part of our team, he could be part of late drive with Ben Lism and Belle as theurvprodicer
