Robin, Kip & Corey Oates to return by popular demand. Lowie to Nights

Robin, Kip and Corey Oates will be back on KIIS 97.3 Breakfast in 2026, commencing January 19. Craig “Lowie” Low will now host a night show, Lowie Live, airing from 9pm-midnight on KIIS in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

This backflip by ARN comes after a backlash from Brisbane listeners after Lowie was announced as the host of KIIS 973 Breakfast at the October Upfronts.

Robin Bailey said “Brissy you did it! Thank you so much. We are coming back because of you and I can’t tell you how grateful I am to be back behind the mic with Kip and Corey again on KIIS973. A reversal like this is a first and I’m beyond excited for what it means for the Robin Kip & Corey show in 2026.”

Kip Wightman said “How good is people power?! No one gets behind a team like Brisbane! Can’t wait to kick off 2026 back in the studio. I guess I’ll need to return all the office equipment I stole on the last day!”

Corey Oates added “We love starting the day with you Brisbane. Thanks for sticking with us, we’re grateful to be part of your mornings. We’ve got exciting plans for 2026 and can’t wait to be back with you from January 19.”

Lowie will now be heard following Smallzy across all KIIS content platforms. He said:

“I’m stoked that Brissy gets its favourite breakfast show back – and I can’t wait to create and connect with listeners nationwide across nights on the KIIS Network.”

Both shows launch on January 19, 2026.

What the actual f**K is going on at ARN.

If they can backflip on a decision like this, what’s the chance of it happening in Melbourne and Sydney?

Wow! Great news for Brissy, but ARN are a complete mess.

So are they hiring back all 7 content staff they made redundant?

Wow.. looks like the new Content chiefs are already making decisive (and the right) moves before they’ve officially begun!

This has got to be one of, if not the, fastest back flips in radio history. Does anybody at ARN know what each hand is doing?

How incredibly embarrassing for ARN – but credit to them for empowering the “new” team to make the changes needed to put things back in place.

Lauren Joyce’s short visit to the job will be remembered as a mismanaged endeavor at unwelcome and unnecessary reinvention of the brands that are working to service the one that needs to find it’s long-term health.

Glad to see this. Now…eyes on Adelaide.

I’m doubtful about a backflip in Adl @Jeff.
Mix’s name was a Sydney import back in 2001 and the just departed breakfast show had a younger vibe than the station audience anyway. And IMO 1323 sounds like it’s been on low cost autopilot for a few years. A shame in Australia’s oldest demo mainland capital but clearly a jukebox of the same songs is a strategy of sorts.

Against that, noticed on socials a recent Adl event had a Mix branded street crew activation, and I havnt heard any “kiis/gold is coming” sweepers on air (has anyone?).

Speaking of cruise just heard on air a reference to Aldinga as “Owl-dinga” instead of “All-dinga”.
No biggie, but radio works best when live and local.

Maybe I’m in the minority, but I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if this was a pre-planned move/publicity stunt from the get-go rather than merely the result of listener backlash. Especially as it’d make considerably more sense for Craig “Lowie” Lowe to present a night show across the network.

Despite receiving plenty of negative feedback about this move (which almost certainly *will* result in a big ratings impact next year), it’d seem highly unlikely the decision to network Christian O’Connell at Brekky with Jonesy & Amanda bumped to Drive will be reversed.

Indeed, I actually think we’ll be more likely to see J&A pushed out the door by ARN in favour of a music-based shift returning to Gold, with COC remaining on brekky in both cities. Hopefully I’m wrong with that prediction, but it is something I can see happening especially as the now-former 101.7 brekky duo are probably closer to being Classic Hits 2UE material than where I suspect ARN want Gold moving forward.

I bet it was humiliating to fly to Brisbane to re-hire after they were sacked. No idea who it was, but I doubt they’ll be flying Business Class to iHeart gigs for much longer

I’ve noticed Cruise has added the 80’s back and widened up the songs. Lot’s of 70’s too, and not as much 60’s. I heard Huggie say the old “we’ve listened to you Adelaide” type line. He’s really tight and bright on breaky here. Sounds like he’s having fun.

Now that Dave Cameron is running the show at ARN metro, this move seems like a classic Greg Smith bait-and-switch. This was planned, no doubt. The Lowie announcement was a temptation for killing season for their competitors

By playing the “popular demand” card they’ve pretty much closed the door on K&J in Brissy.

DC loves local breakfast and loves Melbourne.
Next will be Toni and Ryan into KIIS Melbourne Breakfast in 2027.

With K&J’s current ratings and market sentiment it’s ARN’s only hope of being profitable in Melbourne.

When local ARN stations push the iHeartRadio app like you wouldn’t believe virtually telling people “hey you want to listen to something better go, to the iHeartRadio app and find what you’d like to listen to there ” thereby turning off the local station ! it’s insanity and kills local radio

@Ty: Is ARN’s regular on-air promotion of iHeartRadio (which by the way, I’m pretty sure has been a thing for the better part of 15 years now…) really any different to say, how SCA rather heavily promote LiSTNR?

Last I checked most of the other networks also regularly plug their presences on some kind of app or wider streaming service. About the main exception is the Super Radio Network with barely any of their stations currently streaming online!
