Podding on: No rest for these festive besties
Too much Christmas is never enough Liam Renton and Ness Gibson.
The festive besties and Christmas Podding hosts are bunkered down in a sparkly cave this week, delivering daily podcast episodes just in time for Christmas.
While Australian radio shows are wrapping up for 2025 and taking their extended Christmas holidays, this pair get to deliver the kind of daily content that just isn’t offered anywhere else.
“Running a daily podcast is no different to when we were broadcasting our daily radio show for all those years,” says Renton.
“We spend time choosing the daily topics, researching the latest facts and trends, collate any festive goss (usually about Mariah Carey) and piece it all together.”
With daily routines and run sheets, and a variety of Christmas guests, this is one of the few podcasts actually ramping up in December.
One of the highlights of 2025 was the pair appearing on a billboard in New York’s Times Square to promote Christmas in July.
Gibson says with 40 Christmas podcasts this year alone – and a back catalogue that includes well over 200 episodes stretching back to 2018 – there’s no other show quite like it.
“We deliver podcasts about Christmas fortnightly throughout the year,” she says, “but it’s the daily shows in December where we really sparkle.”
“The vibe goes up a notch, there’s no shortage of Christmas topics to dissect and discuss, and we love interacting daily to listener feedback and questions.”
Renton says it’s a joy producing a daily Christmas podcast to audiences right around the world.
“The challenge lies in making sure we deliver on some daily drama – it’s not all fruit cake and candy canes after all!” he says.
“Christmas can be a very hard time for some and we hope to capture that very real emotion and struggle and offer solutions, while sharing the heart and joy of the season with our listeners.”
So while radio takes it annual break, Christmas Podding takes its opportunity to shine as bright as the star on top of your Christmas tree.
It’s available for download daily in December wherever you get your podcasts.
