Brisbane radio turned podcast duo take over Times Square billboard in NYC

A Brisbane-based podcast has gone global during its Christmas in July celebrations, appearing in one of the world’s most iconic Christmas locations – New York City.
Christmas Podding hosts Liam Renton and Vanessa Gibson have hit the glittering lights of Times Square, with their faces appearing on a billboard on Broadway.
The dedicated podcasters and Christmas fanatics have ramped up their Christmas spirit in the middle of the year, delivering extended episodes throughout July.
The podcast releases episodes fortnightly right throughout the year, building up to daily episodes in December.
“When we were invited to appear on a billboard in Times Square in July, we jumped at the chance to be in the most festive place on earth,” says Gibson.
“We have a niche audience who are obsessed with talking all things Christmas – we’re so excited to be seen in New York, where so many Christmas movies are set, and where the festive spirit runs high!”
It’s not the first billboard campaign on which the duo has featured.
Their faces were regularly seen on billboards around Brisbane when they hosted a breakfast radio show together for almost a decade.
Renton says the podcast’s promotional photos sparkle with festive fun, so they were happy to spread the holiday spirit far and wide in anticipation of their special Christmas in July episodes.
“We love the rise in podcast popularity and cheered when we saw Aussie podcasters Toni & Ryan winning awards recently in New York,” he says.
“They’ve served as an inspiration – the sky’s the limit in podcasting!”
Gibson and Renton are all about spreading Christmas cheer, goodwill and festive fun all year ’round, and couldn’t prouder of the loyal listeners they’ve gathered over eight years and more than 220 podcast episodes.
And, as if an appearance on a New York billboard wasn’t already reaching the ultimate heights, the festive besties have hinted at another major announcement which will cap off the Christmas in July celebrations.

Haha. This is just the digital screen in Times Square that anyone can put a photo up on though. Hardly a billboard. Cringe.
These guys are just like Toni and Ryan if Toni and Ryan were sickly sweet, and all they talked about every day was sugar plum fairies, baked hams and christmas pudding. I’d actualy like to hear T and R talk about reindeers behaving badly , whats in Santas sack and which radio people were on Santa’s Naughty and Nice list. just saying.
@notarealbillboard Arent you a Christmas Grinch. All Billboards in Times Square are a digital image. Its how they work. Why you gotta tear down our industry’s success.
