Mike Byrne departs Super Radio Network, effective immediately
Less than three months after being appointed Group Content Director, Mike Byrne has confirmed he has parted ways with the Super Radio Network, effective immediately.
It comes hot on the heels of the news that Group Sales Manager Gavin Flanagan has left the company.
Posting to social media, Byrne said the experience was ‘interesting’ while it lasted:
“They say you learn a lot more in difficult circumstances than in good and by gee have I learnt a lot over the past few months.”
“There’s a few really good people at SRN who are passionate and work really hard and I wish them all the best of luck moving forward.”
In a February interview with Radio Today, the former ARN Sydney CD told how he made a deliberate choice to do something completely different and drive buses after his ARN position was axed … mere days after steering Sydney’s WSFM (now GOLD 101.7) to #1 in GfK Survey 7 of 2024.

Peter Schmidt (pictured above), who joined SRN at the same time as Byrne, has also finished his contract in the role of Group Technology Manager today, saying: “I knew it was just a short-term contract, but it was a joy to be involved in radio once again after such a break. I forgot what a buzz it can bring to you. Such a great opportunity to again work with the industry heavyweights like Rhys Holleran and Graham Mott.
“The foundations have been laid for the group to be all on one page and heading in the same positive direction under the continued guidance of the CEO and the Chair.”
Hot on the heels of Gav, and Rhys… the optics aren’t good.
Back on the bus I guess for Mike
Mike is one of the best, he’ll be picked up by a network before too long. A loss for Super Radio Network.
