Michael Tetlow takes the reins on ABC Radio Perth Afternoons

Reporter

ABC TV Late News presenter Michael Tetlow has been announced as the new presenter of ABC Radio Perth’s Afternoons program.

Michael has more than 25 years’ experience as a reporter, presenter and producer in Australia and the UK.  He joined the ABC in Perth as a presenter on the national Late News service when it began in early 2018.

Since then, he’s been seen across Australia on the main ABC channel, the News channel and throughout the Asia Pacific on ABC Australia.

Local audiences may also recognise him from the occasions he has presented the weather and 7.00pm news bulletin in Western Australia.

Michael takes over from Dustin Skipworth who has been presenting Afternoons since June, when regular presenter Christine Layton went on maternity leave.

Michael will present the show from Monday 4 September until the end of the year, at which time the ABC will confirm the 2024 presenter line up.

ABC Radio Perth Manager Sarah Knight says “I’m delighted to welcome Michael to the ABC Radio Perth family.”

“He brings great experience to the role and I’m sure his sense of optimism will appeal to our Afternoon audience.  And for those who have enjoyed Dustin Skipworth over the past three months, don’t worry, he will still be a part of the Afternoons team.”

Michael says “I love a good chat and Afternoons on ABC Radio is the perfect place for that. I’m looking forward to the company of our listeners across Perth and WA and helping them share their stories and thoughts.”

“We’ll have a laugh, tell each other a few yarns and keep up to date with what’s going on each afternoon.”
