How to listen to FIFA World Cup on radio and apps
SBS has secured the Australian radio rights for World Cup football coverage in Australia.
Along with the television rights has also come the audio rights, and SBS Radio has taken advantage of that by launching a DAB soccer pop up channel called The Kick Off. The channel is also available on the SBS Audio app and the SBS website.
When there is no live call on air the channel plays music, ‘football anthems to keep you pumped’ and sports talk shows.
Exhorbitant ticket prices, politics and immigration restrictions have been the talking points in the lead up to the competition, but now that games have begun the focus is on the football.
Matches began on 11 June and will continue until 18 July. Australia’s first match, against Türkiye, takes place on in Vancouver, heard in Australia on Sunday 14 June June at 2pm Sydney time.
