GfK Survey 3 sees KIIS Sydney Breakfast plummet in post-K & J era
Just a few months after the spectacular demise of the Kyle & Jackie O Show, the latest radio ratings have delivered a shocker of a result for KIIS Sydney Breakfast, though one many industry pundits had already predicted.
GfK Survey 3 for 2026 saw the show – now hosted by Mike E and featuring a rotating cast of co-hosts – plummet 3.5% to an 8.2 share, and listeners falling away in droves, with a cume loss of 132,000.

Conversely, ARN’s Christian O’Connell has gained traction with his new Sydney audience on Gold 101.7 – moving up 1.7% to post a 7.2 share and picking up 31,000 listeners.
In Melbourne, O’Connell’s share dropped slightly (-0.5 to 10.0%) however he retains the mantle as the city’s top FM Breakfast show ahead of Fox FM’s Fifi, Fev & Nick, with Nova’s Jase, Lauren and Clint now holding down 3rd.
Kerri Elstub, ARN Chief Content Officer, said “Christian O’Connell has delivered outstanding results for GOLD, maintaining the #1 FM Breakfast show in Melbourne once again, while in Sydney, the show has delivered huge growth, recording the biggest Breakfast survey increase as he builds an early connection in a new city.”
“KIIS Breakfast across Sydney and Melbourne is tracking in line with expectations as we build our plans for a new era of growth in both markets for 2027, underpinned by the strength of the KIIS brand.”

Over at SCA, whilst Survey 3 brought a slight dip for2DayFM’s Nath & Emma, Triple M Sydney’s Breakfast team of Beau, Cat & Woodsy continues to make solid ground – rising 0.9 to a 6.4% share despite a small drop-off in cume.
The upward trend also continues for Nova’s Ricki-Lee and Tim, who added another half point to post a share of 9.5 – whilst shedding 16,000 in cume.
Smooth FM claims the title of Sydney’s #1 station ahead of 2GB.
Overall, Sydney Breakfast radio shed 87,000 listeners.
The question is: Has radio lost them forever?
