Dream gig: Loues Vollmer to host The Hot Hits tonight

He might have only just turned 20, but tonight, Loues Vollmer takes on the radio gig of a lifetime, filling in as host of The Hot Hits with Nic and Loren.

With illness having wiped out the entire team – including Nic Kelly and Loren Barry – Loues will be steering the Hit Network show.

And he’s understandably feeling pumped about being given the opportunity.

Speaking to Radio Today ahead of tonight’s instalment of The Hot Hits, Loues said “To now be filling in for a show that I used to listen to in the car all the time is pretty surreal. Back when Nic Kelly was hosting it solo, I always hoped that one day I’d get the chance to fill in or be part of it myself. Well, today – tonight – is that day.”

“I’m beyond happy – let’s go have some fun!”

Loues started his radio journey at the tender age of seventeen. What began as a dream turned into two years on-air for the Gold Coast teen, who now hosts a national Weekday afternoon shift across regional Australia on SCA’s Hit Network.

From first getting noticed through a viral TikTok video to landing work experience and then a weekend shift at 90.9 Sea FM, Loues has never looked back.

“I’ve always loved radio since I was little,” says Loues. “I’ve never been so happy and honestly, this is not a job – it’s a whole load of fun! Talking about music all day … 100% YESSS!”

“It’s taken a lot of time and effort to get to where I am today, but I’ve always believed in working hard and showing what you can do. Sometimes people don’t see the hard work happening behind the scenes, and it can feel like you’re doing it for nothing, but I never let that stop me from giving it my best.”
