Whateley program enjoys further podcast growth

Reporter

SEN says its Whateley program has solidified its popularity amongst digital audiences, with the recent Australian Podcast Ranker revealing it is the most downloaded and consumed podcast among morning radio shows nationwide.

“No morning radio show has achieved as many podcast downloads throughout 2023. This includes a total of 5,832,684 downloads, more than double the next show option.”

The achievement caps off an exceptional year for the show’s host Gerard Whateley, who not only claimed the title of the best sports presenter at the recent ACRAs but also secured the prestigious AFMA award for the best show.

SEN Chief Executive Craig Hutchison says “Gerard’s achievement as the most dominant downloaded morning radio show demonstrates the program’s reach throughout SEN’s digital platforms and is a testament to the level of interest our audience has in his views and opinions.”

“He has embraced modern consumption and the fact that our audience wants to consume his content at a time and place that suits them, with podcasts the perfect way to achieve this.”

“As Australian radio celebrates its 100th birthday on Thursday, we are reminded that we are spoilt for choice with such great Australian talk hosts across many platforms – and the ability to consume these shows at any time bodes Australian radio well for another 100 strong years.”
