Travel, retail and finance drive podcast ad boom in Q1 2026

Brands across travel, retail and finance categories led investment into the Australian podcast industry during the first quarter of 2026, according to ARN’s iHeart and Magellan AI quarterly report.

Airbnb ranked as the top podcast advertiser for the quarter, followed by Shopify, McDonald’s, CommBank and Wise.

The latest data also points to shifting momentum across categories, with Insurance, Bedding, Investing, Business Services & Software and Travel emerging as the top growing industries in podcast advertising for the quarter.

Across content, ad load remained strongest in News (6.30%), followed by Arts (6.03%), True Crime (5.25%), Health & Fitness (4.86%) and Business (4.73%), reflecting sustained advertiser alignment with premium, high-engagement podcast genres.
