Tom Gleeson roasts Melbourne radio shows

This morning on Nova 100’s Ben, Liam and Belle, guest Tom Gleeson took shots at Melbourne radio shows, saying, “it’s good to have some people on air that are under 40,”

“I think you are the only radio show in Melbourne where you are under 40,” Tom said.

“You’re talking about having new babies, on other radio shows they’re talking about their kids and what uni they need to go to. When they’re going to retire…”

The heat ended up getting turned around on Tom when the subject was changed to his brief stint in breakfast radio in 2009.

“In 2009 you did Mix Breakfast. It lasted a year before it died in the ass, so do you have any advice for us doing a show here in Melbourne?” Liam said.

“Ok, I did a breakfast show in Melbourne that no one remembers. Let me see, what would my recommendation be, um, just don’t do breakfast radio,” said Tom.

“Especially if you’re not from the city. Don’t just move to a new city and try to entertain the locals, you’ve got no chance!”

“Because I’m not from Melbourne, I’m originally from Sydney and that was the one problem I had!”
