New streaming chapter for SRN’s Radio 97
Super Radio Network station Radio 97 on the Gold Coast and Tweed Coast will start streaming for the first time from tomorrow (July 1st).
Broadcast Operations Director George Caralis says that while many broadcasters consider streaming just another platform, for him – this one is personal.
He shared on LinkedIn:
“Radio 97 has a remarkable history that stretches back almost nine decades. Originally launched as 2MW in September 1937, the station began broadcasting from Murwillumbah, serving communities across the Northern Rivers. Today, it continues that proud tradition across the Gold Coast, Tweed and Northern Rivers on 972 AM, 104.1 FM and 103.5 FM.”
“In 1983, the station relocated to the Tweed Heads region, where it became the headquarters of my late father, Bill Caralis—Founder, Chairman, Managing Director and owner of what would become the Super Radio Network. Together with my late mother, Pam Caralis, they created what is Australia’s largest privately owned radio group. “
“Long before apps, smartphones and smart speakers, local radio connected communities through trusted voices, local news, local businesses and shared experiences.”
“Today, radio remains one of the last truly local and trusted forms of media. The difference is that our listeners are no longer limited by geography.”
SRN has already commenced streaming on 2SM, Real FM and 2MG Mudgee, Tamworth’s TMFM 95.5 and 92.9FM and Newcastle‘s 2HD and NEWFM.
2DU and Zoo FM in Dubbo will also start streaming on July 1st.
