Super Star result in Mackay Xtra Insights Survey 1

ARN’s Star 101.9 has certainly lived up to its callsign in the first Survey of 2025 for Mackay – taking a clear lead as the station most listened to (+5.2 to 27.1) ahead of Triple M Mackay & The Whitsundays.
ABC Tropical North also enjoyed a solid gain overall (+2.9 to 13.2).
Star’s Rach & Jake are the top Breakfast team (+2.8 to 24.2), followed by the Triple M team of Jay Shipston and Dave Peters (+1.5 to 21.4), with SCA’s Hit sister station in third spot.
Also notable is the phenomenal rise in Star Mornings with Keegan (+16.7 to 37.2) and Afternoons with Kaley – up a whopping 19 to 39.5.
Star 1019 General Manager Leonie Leonard said “I’m incredibly proud of our local team, from sunrise to sundown, it’s all about showing up for our community. Thank you for making Star FM truly local, all day, every day.”
Content Director Scott Linden said “A fantastic result for Star, we love the radio station we’re creating everyday and the team has so much fun together. This result again demonstrates our leaders in local strategy remains important with people taking an interest in what’s happening in their local area.”
SCA Head of Regional Content Blair Woodcock said “Congratulations to our Mackay team on a strong result today. It’s great to see SCA maintain its leadership with the Audience That Matters – reaching 54.2% of People 25–54 in Mackay.”
“More than 15 years into their show, Triple M’s Jay & Dave (Jay Shipton and Dave Peters) continue to prove their strength in the market, growing their Breakfast audience to 21.4% (up 1.5%) in ‘Session Listened to Most’. We’ve got some incredible local talent in Mackay, including Jake Harvey on Hit Mackay & The Whitsundays (9am-12pm), and it’s great to see audiences tuning in.”

Get with the proper methodology and stop this recall garbage.
This is a sign that Sca shouldn’t gotten rid of Rach. Now she’s dominating at star!
You don’t get numbers like that for no reason. Well done to the workday team!
That afternoon results is phenomenal.
Sadly the share price has fallen in the opposite direction for ARN. 31% in 12 months
@Shareholder: Realistically, I’d think whatever ARN are doing in Mackay is likely to have very little (if any) impact on their share price compared to things like the networking of Kyle & Jackie O to Melbourne or Gold in Sydney!
Now are there problems with the methodology of Xtra Insights’ regional radio surveys? Probably. Although they seem most evident in markets in close proximity/adjacent to major metropolitan areas where the scheduling is typically done so the metro & regional survey periods don’t 100% overlap with each other, thus benefiting the regional stations.
