After a world-wide search, ARN has appointed Stephen Werner to the role of Content Director at Mix102.3/Cruise 1323 in Adelaide.
Stephen has a long and impressive background in audio and content creation. Born and bred in Cape Town, he started his career in Primedia as a junior producer for a number of respected talk shows before moving on to produce the region’s biggest music station breakfast show at Kfm.
His career went international with a stint in LA as a radio producer, including a series of special edition Academy Award broadcasts, and he quickly established himself as the man who could secure big name interviews including with the likes of Gordon Ramsay, One Direction and Morgan Freeman.
In 2013, back in South Africa, Stephen became Kfm Program Manager, and in 2019 was promoted to head of the station. In 2020, he was appointed as a member of Primedia Broadcasting’s Leadership team, responsible for formulating and executing the broadcasting business’s audience and revenue building strategies. Through the course of his career, he has been involved in every part of programming in the business.
Under Stephen’s leadership, his stations have won numerous South African radio awards across multiple categories including Breakfast Show, Radio Innovation and Promotion/Stunt.
Derek Bargwanna, Head of KIIS Network, says “I’m thrilled for Stephen to bring his leadership, programming knowledge and audio creation skills to Mix102.3 and Cruise. We look forward to both the station and The Ali Clarke Breakfast Show continuing to develop and grow under his guidance and his wealth of global knowledge.”
Stephen says “I can’t wait to arrive and meet everybody. Radio is a team sport and I truly believe the success of the station rests with the team and their passion for radio! I’ve been listening and watching Mix102.3 and Cruise over the past few months and I’m super excited to hit the ground running and create some great content for our audience and clients.”
Stephen commences his role at ARN in Adelaide on Monday, April 17.
Why isn’t Cruise national on DAB? Especially now 4KQ is gone in Brisbane.
ARN has absolutely no vision beyond K&J and KIIS it seems.
So we’ve got a lack of local talent then?
Why not search local? So many talented potential CD’s here in Australia
Omg the place is a poison chalice. More cd’s in 5 years than crows wins.
