Robin, Kip and Corey: Determined to go out on a high
Just days after the axe came down on their KIIS 97.3 Brisbane Breakfast show, Robin Bailey, Kip Wightman and Corey Oates this morning addressed on-air what they jokingly referred to as ‘the elephant in the room.’
What happens now? And who’s taking over?
Robin, who has a book coming out soon, broke down in tears as she said “This is probably it for me. I don’t think I’ll get another radio contract and that’s heartbreaking because I love this business.”
“And I really love you guys. Having done this for so long … this show had a bloody good chance. And I know that.”
“Kind of scary to think I don’t know how to make money, but I’ve just got to believe that something will happen, something good.”
Corey said he’d wait and see what comes along.
“I reckon you’ll be picked up somewhere in the media,” Robin told him.
Kip joked he’d perhaps learn a trade.
“A lot of people [are] wondering what’s happening next year,” Kip said.
“We don’t know. We’ve been told that it’s not Kyle and Jackie O coming in next year. I guess we’ll all find out next year, or maybe you won’t listen ever again, which is fine by us.”
The trio are now focused on finishing the year on a high.
“It would be a great kick in the nuts if we could finish on No.1,”Kip said.
In an Instagram post yesterday, Robin said our industry cared more about money than connection.

Amazing that ARN are inserting paid ads into this podcast, monetising 3 people’s demise and loss of income.
WOW. This company really is clueless on reading the room, how to treat people and build culture.
Corey Oates could well end up with his former teammate Corey Parker and Ian Healy at SENQ 69 3 am and keep could end up there so could Kip could partner with Ben Davis from London to midday and Robin can become part of the news team at SEM.
Robin you should get back with Jamie Dunn! I loved you guys together on B105 morning show when I was a teenager! It was never the same.
Go back to hosting together I reckon!
