Media personality, journalist and podcast host Bec Morse is returning to Adelaide’s KIIS 1023, stepping into the Workdays slot while Ryan ‘Burgo’ Burgess takes time away on paternity leave.

A familiar voice to KIIS 1023 listeners, Bec has become a popular part of the KIIS family through a variety of fill-in roles, including hosting shifts across the Christmas and summer period and standing in on the station’s Breakfast show earlier this year.

From Friday, July 17, Bec will take the reins weekdays from 10am – 3pm following Breakfast duo Ben & Liam.

KIIS 1023 Content Director Stephen Werner said “We’re thrilled to welcome Bec back to KIIS 1023 while Burgo enjoys this special time with his growing family. Bec is already a valued part of the KIIS family and has built a fantastic connection with our audience through her previous stints on the station. Her warmth, humour and ability to connect with listeners make her the perfect fit to take Adelaide through the workday.”

Bec Morse added “I’m so excited to be joining the KIIS 1023 team again and helping keep Adelaide entertained throughout the workday. I always love being on KIIS and can’t wait to spend my days with listeners while Burgo enjoys time with his new addition.”

Bec will host KIIS Workdays from 10am–3pm from July 17 until August 12. Listen live on KIIS 1023 Adelaide or stream via ARN’s free iHeart app.

Well done!! And what a terrific and genuine quote from Bec about the news. Obviously came straight from her.

New Adelaide Talent, Anyone?

I’ll never discredit Bec Morse as one hell of a broadcaster (in both her newscasts and on air) she is absolutely super. This isn’t a comment on her skills or aptitude at all. I grew up with her on the news and went into my adult years with her on SAFM brekky before I left for my own radio journey. She is a ripper.

However, her appointment begs the question… why couldn’t a NEW announcer be picked? How long has it been since Adelaide commercial radio had some form of NEW blood that wasn’t networked in or had a previously extensive (i.e. more than 5-10 year) profile in either sports or media?

It seems as if everyone’s trying to play it REALLY safe in Adelaide… and that’s the death knell in my eyes.

There’s nothing NEW! There’s nothing DIFFERENT! It’s the same personalities doing very similar things.

There’s some really killer announcers sitting at stations across Australia who would love to get into a market like Adelaide on a station like KIIS (previously Mix) and would absolutely smash it.

The Adelaide radio market needs a HUGE shakeup. The current commercial players need to get off their laurels.

1. HIRE NEW PEOPLE! Stop recycling the same 20-odd personalities.

2. ACMA REALLY needs to kill off the redundant FM foothills licences and open them up to new players in the market (ACE Radio, Capital et al.) Or maybe even open up provincial satellite stations to the north or south of the city with their own LAP’s and markets served.

There’s a market ready to buy… they’re just not being served.
