The Underdogs returns to The Fox for biggest AFL edition yet
It’s one of radio’s biggest feel-good moments of the year.
This morning, The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick announced the return of The Underdogs – the initiative which gives kids who’ve experienced illness, bullying or hardship the opportunity to run onto an AFL field as part of their own team.
Now entering its third AFL edition, The Underdogs will take centre stage as the curtain-raiser to the Western Bulldogs‘ clash with North Melbourne at Marvel Stadium on Thursday, August 6, marking the initiative’s biggest stage yet through a new partnership with the Western Bulldogs Football Club.

More than just a game of footy, The Underdogs is designed to give kids who have felt excluded from sport the chance to experience what it’s like to truly belong.
From pulling on the guernsey in their own locker room and meeting AFL stars to running onto the field in front of thousands of fans, the day is designed to build long-lasting confidence, connection, and unforgettable memories.
Previous participants have formed lasting friendships and seen meaningful improvements in confidence and self-belief long after the final siren.
Fifi Box said “We are back! This is going to be huge. This is a team for every child who’s been left out, overlooked, underestimated, sidelined by bullying, scared, fearful of rejection. We want your kids to feel loved, and we know how much an event like this can change their lives. We’ve watched it and we still keep in touch with all our Underdogs. We know from this experience, just that one occasion with the roar of the crowd and being part of a team, that friendships can be built out of this. We want to change things for your kids! We’re recruiting, it’s happening!”
Parents and carers can now nominate children to join this year’s team by visiting fox.com.au.
Listen to Fifi, Fev & Nick on Melbourne’s 101.9 The Fox from 6-9am weekdays, also on LiSTNR. Fifi, Fev & Nick can also be heard nationally across The Hit Network during ‘The Happy Hour’ from 6pm to 7pm.
