Question mark over ABC Radio local news services during Easter

The ABC is yet to confirm reports that it plans to close down its local TV and radio newsrooms over Easter as a cost-saving measure.

Industry website TV Blackbox says it has obtained an email, formally advising managers of the changes.

It would be the first time the ABC has had no local radio or TV bulletins over four consecutive days.

The national broadcaster has in the past closed down its local newsrooms on Good Friday.

The ABC has been contacted for comment, with a spokesperson telling RadioToday: We expect to do two national 7pm [television] news bulletins over the Easter long weekend and national radio news bulletins…” See updated report here.
