Possible new podcast accessibility feature on Spotify

The inventor of the hashtag, Chris Messina has hinted at a possible new Spotify update that will make podcasts more accessible on the platform. 

Messina shared a video of him using the app with a different layout, writing that Spotify is introducing a new reels style scroll feed for podcasting on Spotify.

“HUGE!! @Spotify is adding a dedicated TikTok-style vertical scrolling feed for @spotifypodcasts to its toolbar,” wrote Messina.

The layout shows a new additional tab at the bottom of the screen that accesses a TikTok reel style layout allowing users to scroll through different listed podcasts. 

The software used in the footage appears to be beta software that has not been made available to the public yet and Spotify has made no comment to either confirm or deny the update at this point. 

Implementing this feature will make podcasting a main focal point of the streaming service that started as a music focused service, spelling big things for the further growth of podcasting in the future.
