iHeartRadio launches pop-up station to celebrate 40 years of MTV

Former Editor & Content Director

ARN’s iHeartRadio is celebrating four-decades of MTV’s ‘iconic music moments’ with a new pop-up station.

MTV Sounds will be available on DAB+ in Sydney as well as via the iHeartRadio app.

The station launched this morning, and each week will chart a decade in music, alongside performances filmed exclusively for MTV over the years. This week focuses on the 1980s, with follow up weeks shining the spotlight on the ’90s, ’00s and now.

The station will be hosted by Australian artists Thandi Phoenix and Young Franco.

iHeartRadio Australia’s content director, Brett ‘Nozz’ Nossiter, said the station is set to take off in style.

“We’re thrilled to be working with the iconic MTV, to create another unique iHeartRadio station. It’s a real blast to relive and celebrate some of the most seminal MTV moments from the last four decades of incredible music,” he said.
