MFW sets its sights on Kyle Sandilands’ TV gig

Just hours out from the crowning of this year’s Australian Idol winner, high-profile activist group Mad F**king Witches has upped the ante in its quest to get Kyle Sandilands removed from the Seven Network show.

Speaking to Women’s Agenda, MFW founder Jennie Hill said “Even though Kyle’s behaviour isn’t as bad on Idol as it was on radio, he’s demonstrated that he’s not a fit person to be broadcasting anywhere in Australia.”

MFW had consistently lobbied Kyle & Jackie O advertisers in the two years leading up the ARN show’s recent demise.

Hill said of Sandilands’ on-air departure “We’re glad he’s not there [anymore], because the content that he was saying every day on air was very damaging to women and people in minority groups.”

“So he’s not on the air. That’s great. It’s fantastic.”

Now, the group has set its sights on Sandilands’ TV judging gig.

According to MFW, “It’s poor role modelling for young people watching, it’s highly irritating, and it’s clearly misogynistic in tone and intent.”

“And it should f**king stop.”

Coercive control and manipulation at its finest, against a male nevertheless

How far can this go, seriously? Can Kyle sue MFW for defamation? Hope he does.

MFW are full of contradictions. Stop giving that group any sort of attention

MFW won’t be sued though they should be

Who designated the MFW’s as the arbiters of who is a good role model and who isn’t. Just because they throw out the buzz word “misogynistic” doesn’t make it true.

Kyle should turn his ire on them for targeted harassment and defamation.

Why don’t those Mad F***king Witches save their evil spells for people that do seriously vile things like rorting the NDIS so that severely disabled souls miss out on real help because someone has stolen the funding that would have changed their lives for the better.
There are so many far more vile people that merit their attention.
Believe it or not, there are many people who actually like Kyle, with or without his manufactured outrageous behaviour.
I, for one, think he is a wonderful and encouraging fit for Idol – have the MFW even watched how he interracts with the Idol competitors?

Re: everybody saying that Kyle ought to sue for defamation. You can only win a defamation case if you can prove that what they are saying isn’t true, and MFW creates graphics based on what Kyle says. In other words, a defamation case would end up Kyle’s words against Kyle’s.

I think this all falls to a question of if you can seperate the art from the artists. Do you still listen to and endorse R Kelly’s or P Diddy’s music? Or do you refuse to because of the things that they’ve done in their personal lives. Obviously they are different situations but thats my overly simplistic boil-down of it

It’s a real shame that some fellow radio industry colleagues support these bunch of pink-haired sad sacks and are active on their Facebook page . Yet those same colleagues also pretend to care and see that you’re ok considering everything happening at your company.

Wasn’t Jennie Hill the one that said on The Project “We’ve never called for anyone to be sacked”?….what a load of bullsh*t

As much as it’d benefit us all if Kyle Sandilands no longer had a significant public profile of any kind (and I’d imagine that realistically, he’s earnt enough money throughout his career to now no longer need to work another day in his life…), is Australian Idol really the best target for MFW?

Last I checked, Australian Idol obviously does well enough in the ratings for Seven to renew every year but by a considerable margin, the most popular and toxic program on Australian TV was Nine’s Married At First Sight.

Surely, MAFS would be a far better target for MFW given the sexist and misogynistic behaviours sometimes expressed by contestants on that show?

You would think MFW are anti MAFS but it appears they (or whoever is in charge of their X handle) are fans of MAFS. I couldnt screenshot but if you go to their @mfwitches and search #mafsau there is a running commentary from MFW about the goings on of MAFS and not 1 threat of a boycott in sight. Honestly MFWitches are a joke and im disappointed so many companies (including ARN) dont call them out
