Are former triple j stars Matt & Alex really reuniting with radio?

After launching a new Instagram account last week, fans of former triple j breakfast team Matt Okine and Alex Dyson were quick to speculate on reunion plans.

Okine and Dyson have posted just one photo to their new profile with the caption “hello”.

Adding to the hype, Dyson also shared a photo from last year’s ARIA Awards, with the duo dressed as Tones And I and her viral hit ‘Dancy Monkey’.

Although some radio chat rooms suspect they could be bound for breakfast or drive, Radio Today understands the pair is more likely readying to launch a podcast.

As yet, no details have been unveiled, but sources tell me an announcement is “imminent”.

Their last radio gig was on the Hit Network last June, for The Sunday Experiment.

Okine joined Dyson for triple j in 2014 following the departure of Tom Ballard, and together the two enjoyed a fruitful three years in the role.

Radio insiders told Radio Today the pair have been flirting with a possible reunion for some time, meeting with group content bosses from the major networks.

Back in April 2018, Okine addressed rumours of a return to radio with Dyson on an episode of The Ferg Neal Show, saying that “he wouldn’t rule it out.”

He then flagged that should he return to radio, it would likely be with a different station,

“I doubt if we did it it would be with triple j, because we are getting old,” he said.

“You can’t have a bald old guy and a guy who can’t play soccer without dislocating his elbow every 10 seconds running around a youth radio station anymore.”

Oh a podcast!
Just what we need.
How many podcasts are out there now?
A million, or two million?
That’ll have a real impact
