ARN’s 7HOFM has announced its School of the Year winner, with Lauderdale Primary School claiming the $10,000 prize.

Throughout the month-long promotion, local primary schools in Southern Tasmania were encouraged to nominate themselves for a chance to win the prizemoney, and use it to  enhance their educational facilities.

58 schools seized the opportunity, keen to invest the money in everything from playground and sports equipment, library resources and improved outdoor spaces to new fencing and even a bike track.

Members of the public cast over 17,400 votes for the nominated schools.

7HOFM’s Breakfast hosts Sarah and Mick attended a special school assembly earlier in the week to surprise Lauderdale Primary School with the news of its victory, with Principal Tracey Johnston saying they plan to use the $10,000 to relocate and revamp their vegetable garden for the school, providing valuable hands-on learning opportunities for students.

Kevin ‘Johnno’ Johnson, 7HOFM’s Assistant Content Director & Breakfast Anchor says “Lauderdale Primary stood out not only in terms of votes but especially due to their total commitment, creativity, and effort in setting themselves apart from the competition.  They are a truly deserving winner.”

Second place was awarded to Dodges Ferry Primary School who received $5,000, with Kingston Primary School coming in third and winning $2,500.
