In what could be a game-changer for the podcast industry, an AI-powered audio intelligence platform is opening its APIs (Application Programming Interface) to the public.

Sounder its launching a set of open APIs for its Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) and transcription technology.

The company says it’s the first step in its vision to propel the podcast industry forward in 2024, enabling new avenues for growth and monetisation for podcast creators and the industry.

Sounder’s library of podcast transcripts encompasses over 5 million episodes’ worth of data, serving as the bedrock for its speech-to-text API.

It’s fuelled by over 15,000 hours of human annotations.

Sounder CEO Kal Amin says it’s a major step forward.

“We’ve built our transcription technology from the ground up, meticulously trained on the nuances of podcast audio.”

Sounder says this is just the first of many APIs to be opened, giving developers and podcasters unprecedented access to the breadth and depth of available data.
