KIIS duo Kyle Sandilands and Jackie Henderson were inducted into the Commercial Radio Hall of Fame at the 33rd annual Australian Commercial Radio Awards (ACRAs) on Saturday.

The pair have been on air together for more than 22 years and have been the number one FM station for 30 consecutive surveys.

Kyle and Jackie O received the Hall of Fame accolade, recognising outstanding lifetime achievements and contributions to the radio broadcasting industry in front of their peers and almost 1000 guests.

They also received ACRAs for Best On Air Team (Metro FM) and Best Networked Program (Hour of Power).

The duo began broadcasting together in 2000 on 2Day FM, before later moving to KIIS in January 2014, breaking new ground by bringing their loyal listeners along with them with their mix of stars, celebrity gossip, stunts and giveaways.

Ford Ennals, the CEO of awards organiser Commercial Radio & Audio (CRA), congratulated Kyle and Jackie O for being inducted into the Hall of Fame.

“Kyle and Jackie O are one of the greatest teams in the history of modern radio. Their on-air chemistry, authenticity and deep connection with their audience has demonstrated the power of radio and made them two of Australia’s most recognisable and successful media personalities,” said Ennals.

“Their show has also made an enormous contribution to the community through raising awareness and support for many worthy causes and charities.

“Over the years their show has had many contributors and producers, who should also take pride in the news of their Commercial Radio Hall of Fame induction tonight.”

“A big congratulations on being inducted into the Hall of Fame. I’ve had some great chats with both of you over the years. You’re certainly not afraid to ask me the hard questions,” said Albanese.

What a joke. Is this the start of the dumbing-down of the Hall Of Fame award. What about Bob Rogers, Alan Jones, Leon Byner, Trevor Smith plus many dear-departed icons like Don Lunn, Ken Sparkes and many tech & management gurus.
