Jimmy & Nath confirmed as 2DayFM Breakfast hosts, joined by Emma Chow

Reporter

Jimmy Smith and Nathan Roye have been confirmed as 2DayFM’s Breakfast hosts and will be joined by Emma Chow, starting Monday, 20 January.

After a five-month stint filling in on 2DayFM Breakfast in late 2024, SCA says Jimmy & Nath have earned themselves a permanent breakfast spot in 2025.

Best mates on and off the mic, Jimmy & Nath have spent nearly a decade living intertwined lives, hustling from regional radio roles to metro Weekend and Night shows.

Jimmy says “When Nath and I met 10 years ago, we said we’d love to do Sydney breakfast … but we never imagined we’d actually get the job! For us, it’s about entertaining people and putting a smile on their faces. You never know what someone is going through, and we want to be a show that brings joy to people. That’s why we do what we do.”

“We’re also thrilled to welcome Emma into the Jimmy & Nath family. She’s an amazing broadcaster and we’re just as excited that her two kids now have two funcles (fun uncles).”

Nath says “Jimmy and I are best mates who adore radio, and after more than 10 years together, it’s weird to say we are doing 2DayFM breakfast in Sydney – something we used to joke about. This isn’t a flash-in-the-pan show, it’s one that we’ve been building for years, and we can’t wait to kick off the next chapter of our careers with 2Day brekky.”

“Plus we’re lucky to welcome Em, a fantastic radio presenter who will play an instrumental role in the Jimmy & Nath show’s future!”

Emma was entertaining audiences as part of the Mike E & Emma show on Edge 96.1 for over a decade before joining 2DayFM on Mornings in 2024.

Emma says “To say this is a dream come true is an understatement! I set my alarm to listen to 2DayFM breakfast every morning before school when I was a kid, so this all feels very surreal.”

Dave Cameron, SCA Chief Content Officer, said “We’ve been excited to hear Jimmy & Nath bring much-needed energy and a creative buzz to Breakfast, that Sydneysiders deserve, during their past five months filling in on 2DayFM Breakfast. Now with the addition of Emma Chow’s energy and spark – who is already familiar to Sydney Breakfast listeners – this show is an exciting confirmation for 2DayFM Breakfast moving forward.”

SCA says Mike Etheridge from the Mike E & Emma show will continue to play a key role at the network in 2025, with further details to be announced.

“What if we replaced two guys and girl with… two guys and a girl?”

Oh 2Day, you’ve done it again.

What a selfish move from Emma, to ditch her co host of 14 years?

I’m guessing this is the last time that she will be on a prime time radio slot, because the ratings will drop and nobody will pick them up. My guess is that after the ratings drop, they’ll be moved to weekend breakfast just like Dan and Maz…

Mixed emotions… I always thought only Mike E and Emma can fight with Kyle & Jackie O… but this trio could work but unfortunately not in 2DayFM in its current state…
But good luck to them, I hope maybe they can reach 6% share…

Stranger things have happened I guess

I guess we’ll have to see if dad jokes from the 90s paraded as content rates well as a breakfast show.

Adding a (much needed) female voice without crediting her in the show name?
Despite all three of them having much the same experience and profile?

A strong, feminist move from two boys who I’m sure LOVE to brand themselves as ‘the good kind of Straight White Man”

@max
That’s a bit harsh on Emma,
It’s probably due to higher ups than her own choice. Since they make the decisions rather then herself.

Good on Em, one of the nicest people I’ve had the pleasure of working with and well deserved!

No announcement on a show name? Is it ‘Jimmy, Nath & Emma’ ala what Nova did with Ben, Liam & Belle? Or ‘Jimmy & Nath with Emma Chow’ ala what Nova did with Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie? Or just Jimmy & Nath (with Emma.. but not credited), like what Nova did with Jase & Lauren (with Clint.. but not credited)?

At least SCA aren’t trying to call them ‘The Morning Crew’! And yes, let’s hope 2DayFM’s format shifts to something fresher than just playing songs your Mum loves to listen to.

If Emma doesn’t get billing ie “ Jimmy Nath and Emma “ there will be hell to pay. SCA will be judged on this one. Female listeners will revolt if she doesn’t and why didn’t they just hire Mike and Emma, doesn’t 14 years of chemistry account for anything ? Looks like SCA going to blow it again.

Odd decision by 2day management. These 2 are community radio at best.
Not their fault, they’re just not that interesting or funny. Not Will & Woody terrible. But not great

100% agree with @Uninspired.

We all wonder why people are leaving radio for Spotify; it’s because radio hasn’t evolved in the last twenty years.

I’ll personally go to the press if Emma doesn’t get
billing for this show.

I listened to Jimmy and Nath’s first show and noticed that Emma is on but the show is still called ‘ Jimmy and Nath ‘ So no billing for Emma, the biggest star of them all. Pure sexism is alive and well in radio. Poor form from SCA. Come on guys you can do better than that.

Why does Triple M breakfast promote “ Breakfast with Beau, Tarsh & Woodsy “ but Jimmy and Nath don’t promote Emma in the show title for 2Dayfm Breakfast. Emma has more profile than Jimmy and Nath in Sydney. She has been on Breakfast radio for more than 10 years. Shame on you 2Dayfm management.

Can Mr Cameron explain why Emma is not included in the Jimmy and Nath show name ?
Mr Cameron is living in the 90’s if he thinks women should have lessor roles and billing than men. Times have changed and some women are actually better than their male counterparts on air.

SCA stuck in the 80’s and 90’s how can you have a woman on air and not use her name ?

SCA are probably thinking that the ‘Jimmy & Nath’ brand is well established due to the number of followers they have on socials, but I’d be tipping most of those followers are not from Sydney. Silly move – they should have at least gone the ‘Jimmy & Nath with Emma’ route.

Even Nova had the decency to brand the new breakfast show “ Ash, Lutsy & Nikki Osborne “
Leaving Emma Chow out of the breakfast branding is appalling.

The show is sounding good, but the boys + product team really need to do better… Nil acknowledgment of Emma on marketing collateral, and she hardly makes the Instagram videos…

It’s not that hard to output on Instagram using 3 frames…
