Jamie Angel becomes creative director of Triple M Brisbane & anchor of Breakfast show
Southern Cross Austereo (SCA)’s Sydney office is set to lose another long-term staffer, with Jamie Angel on the move to Brisbane.
Angel is taking on the newly-created role of creative director of Triple M Brisbane, and will also anchor The Big Breakfast with Marto & Margaux.
Angel has previously held content director roles across the likes of Melbourne’s Fox FM, Sydney’s 2DayFM and Triple M.
He was also parachuted into the troubled 2DayFM Breakfast slot when the station attempted to reset and move away from talent-heavy shows in favour of a music format.
He has previously spoken about how its battle with the ratings was “tough”, “challenging” and “a little bit heartbreaking”.
Most recently, he’s been the Mornings announcer for 2DayFM.
In an internal memo, seen by Radio Today, SCA heaped praise on Angel’s tenure and various talents.
“Jamie Angel has clocked up a massive 21 years with us at SCA Sydney, including 11 years at 2DayFM,” it said.
“He has been a mentor to so many of us, a radio encyclopaedia and most recently a red wine collector. Crack a bottle of that Grange mate. You will be greatly missed by all of us in Sydney.”
2DayFM is on the hunt for a new announcer as part of the shake-up.
Angel’s wife, Ellie Angel-Mobbs, is also relocating and will take up the assistant content director role at the Hit Network’s B105.
