Ellie Angel-Mobbs to depart 2DayFM to become B105 assistant content director
2DayFM stalwart Ellie Angel-Mobbs is departing the station after over a decade.
Angel-Mobbs has help various positions at the Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) station including on-air, content assistant and producer roles. She currently works Weekday Afternoons from Wednesdays, with Mike ‘MC’ Christian taking Mondays and Tuesdays, and hosts Weekend Breakfast for Canberra’s Hit 104.7 with Jason Roses.
Now, however, she is farewelling her long-term home, and moving to Brisbane to become assistant content director at the Hit Network’s B105.
Current ACD Abi Benaud is going on maternity leave in September.
According to an internal memo, seen by Radio Today, Angel-Mobbs has promised to still jump on air for the odd weekend shift.
“You all know Ellie Angel-Mobbs and would agree with me that she has been the life of 2DayFM office for over 13 years. Honestly, it is hard to imagine our station in Sydney without her,” the memo said.
SCA also said Angel-Mobbs was “one of the most passionate and dedicated radio people in the industry”.
As part of the shuffle, MC will take over all Weekday Afternoon shifts.
Radio Today understands Angel-Mobbs will continue to co-host her Canberra Weekend Breakfast show with Roses.
Angel-Mobbs has previously opened up about her desire and drive to be the best female music announcer in the country.
Angel-Mobbs’ husband Jamie Angel is also on the move. Angel currently hosts Weekday Mornings, so 2DayFM is also on the hunt for an announcer to replace him.
