Jack Heverin’s ultimate sporting mission accomplished
Imagine telling a basketball-mad kid that one day, an NBA team would come to play in his home city – and he’d be commentating the game.
Radio host Jack Heverin’s ultimate sporting dream came true last night, when he got to be part of the commentary team for the exhibition game between the New Orleans Pelicans and local NBL side South East Melbourne Phoenix at Rod Laver Arena.

Jack also rubbed shoulders with the legends of the game, creating a weekend of memories he’ll cherish forever.
As well as being the voice of the NBL on Fox, Jack is well known to radio listeners, calling AFL footy and cricket on Triple M.
Jack fine-tuned his craft while hosting The Sporting Capital on 1116 SEN and has more than fourteen years’ experience commentating a host of different sports for radio and TV, from cricket to lawn bowls.
A Langwarrin boy, Jack more or less fell into radio, as a fill-in commentator for a local footy game.
He knew ten minutes into the first quarter that it was the job he wanted to do for the rest of his life.
